In Wolford v. Lopez, a civil case being appealed from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus has joined other gun rights organizations in arguing that the US Supreme Court should grant certiorari in this case. We argue that “the court should grant certiorari to avoid the near-total destruction of the right to carry in Hawaii and that the Ninth Circuit’s “private property default rule was invented to undermine the right to carry and lacks legitimate historical support.”
If the Ninth Circuit’s decision is allowed to stand, gun owners will be unable to lawfully carry in 96.4% of the publicly accessible land in Maui County, Hawaii.
