TAKE ACTION: Stop HF 3368 / SF 4200
Minnesota lawmakers are advancing a bill that combines stronger penalties for straw purchasing with a controversial ban on binary triggers.
These are two very different issues, and they should not be tied together.
This bill would:
- Reenact a ban on certain firearm components that raises serious Second Amendment concerns
- Expand restrictions on lawful firearm ownership and use
- Combine a controversial gun control measure with provisions that would otherwise have bipartisan support
We are neutral on penalties for criminal straw purchasing. That conduct is already illegal and should be addressed directly.
But combining it with a firearm ban forces lawmakers to choose between targeting criminals and protecting constitutional rights.
These issues should be split into separate bills so each can be debated and voted on independently.
This isn’t good policy. It’s bad process.
Tell your legislators to vote NO on HF 3368 / SF 4200 as drafted.
Minnesotans deserve honest, focused legislation, not bundled bills that mix criminal enforcement with unconstitutional restrictions.
Take action now.
