Our Director of Government Relations & Advocacy Anna Leamy testified against SF 3572, which removes a long-standing provision allowing school principals or superintendents to authorize lawful permit holders to carry on school property.

This authority is not a loophole — it’s a case-by-case decision made by school leadership involving vetted permit holders who have passed background checks and training.

During questions, Sen. Latz suggested the bill was not a blanket prohibition.

Anna correctly pointed out that the bill strikes the language allowing principals and superintendents to grant that permission.

Senate Hearing: Anna Leamy Pushes Back on School Carry Bill (SF 3572)
Today in the Senate Judiciary hearing, Sen. Latz acknowledged the pressure he’s receiving from our members and supporters after the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus was not allowed to testify on several major gun ban bills.

That pressure is part of the democratic process.

He also highlighted an inappropriate comment made online that could be interpreted as a threat.

Let us be clear: there is absolutely no place for threats against elected officials. We have never condoned political violence and never will—whether directed at lawmakers, activists, or anyone else.

Our members are passionate because they care deeply about their rights, but debate must remain lawful and respectful.

We will continue to advocate strongly for the rights of Minnesota gun owners—without threats or intimidation.

🚨 Last-Minute Testimony at the Capitol

We were only notified at the last minute that we could testify on SF 513, a bill to create a taxpayer-funded “Office of Gun Violence Prevention.”

Our Director of Government Relations & Advocacy Anna Leamy made it clear:

Minnesota doesn’t need another bureaucracy designed to reframe and restrict a constitutional right.

Instead of building new government offices, lawmakers should focus on violent offenders, prosecution, and public safety.

🚨 TESTIMONY: Stop Taxpayer Funding for Gun Control Advocacy

Our Director of Government Relations & Advocacy Anna Leamy testified against SF 1580, a bill that would send $1 million in taxpayer funding to the Violence Prevention Project at Hamline University.

We support academic research on violence — but taxpayers should not be forced to fund partisan gun control advocacy disguised as research.

🚨 TESTIMONY: Protect Gun Owner Privacy

Our Director of Government Relations & Advocacy Anna Leamy testified today against SF 3836, a bill that would weaken privacy protections for Minnesota permit-to-carry holders.

Minnesota made a deliberate decision in 2003 and 2005 to keep permit holder data private because of the risk of political targeting and harassment.

SF 3836 reverses that policy.

🚨 Mega Gun Control Hearing Tomorrow

Chairman Bryan Strawser answers the big questions:
• Why the Senate can move these bills
• Why the House tie still blocks them becoming law
• What happens next in the process

We’ll be there testifying on every bill they allow.
