Self-Defense Law Reform, aka “Stand your Ground,” simplifies Minnesota’s self-defense law by codifying the 10-12 court cases that interpret our existing statutory law while removing the ridiculous “duty to retreat” concept that requires Minnesotans to retreat from an attacker before defending themselves with force.

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE
- Law-abiding gun owners in Minnesota should not be forced to retreat when confronted with a violent attack by criminals. Under current Minnesota law, gun owners that use force without first “retreating” from a situation can find themselves charged with a crime and sued in civil court by the very criminal attacking them!
- A law-abiding gun owner could spend thousands of dollars defending themselves in court!
As a law-abiding gun owner in Minnesota, I urge you to co-sponsor and vote for Stand Your Ground & Expanded Castle Doctrine legislation.
