TAKE ACTION: Stop HF 4362 / SF 4466
Minnesota lawmakers are advancing a bill that would expand gun-free zones across vast areas of public university property.
This bill goes far beyond classrooms or secure buildings. It would restrict the rights of law-abiding Minnesotans across large, open public spaces.
This bill would:
- Treat entire university campuses as “gun-free zones,” including sidewalks, roads, and open land
- Criminalize lawful carry by permitted, trained individuals
- Create unclear and undefined boundaries that ordinary citizens cannot reasonably identify
- Expand “sensitive places” far beyond any historical or constitutional limits
These are not secure or restricted environments. They are public spaces used daily by thousands of Minnesotans as they go about their lives.
Permit holders are already vetted, trained, and among the most law-abiding citizens in the state.
This bill does not target criminals. It disarms the people who follow the law.
There is no historical tradition of banning lawful carry across broad public areas like university campuses, making this proposal constitutionally suspect.
This isn’t about safety. It’s about expanding government control over where you can exercise a fundamental right.
Tell your legislators to vote NO on HF 4362 / SF 4466.
Law-abiding Minnesotans should not lose their rights simply by walking across public property.
Take action now.
