This week, the Senate Judiciary Committee scheduled a last-minute hearing on extreme gun control legislation just one day before even more gun control proposals, including a ban on commonly owned rifle and pistol magazines, are heard in the DFL’s Public Safety & Gun Control Omnibus Bill.
The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus issued the statement below in response:
“The DFL is trying to use their trifecta to infringe on the rights of law-abiding Minnesotans under the guise of improving public safety. Numerous legislators, including many in the Senate DFL caucus and nearly every county sheriff in Minnesota, have expressed concerns about these gun control proposals. They’re speaking out because these bills are unconstitutional and ineffective,” said Bryan Strawser, Chairman, Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus.
“By scheduling last-minute hearings and burying gun control provisions in lengthy omnibus budget bills, it’s clear that they’re trying to protect their members from their gun control votes,” said Rob Doar, SVP of the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus. “We won’t allow them to escape accountability to their constituents and will continue advocating for real public safety solutions, especially at our upcoming Rally to Defend the Second Amendment on Saturday.”
Those interested in opposing these bills should email their representatives through the Caucus’s Action Center, sign our petition opposing these gun control measures, and RSVP to attend our Rally to Defend the Second Amendment this Saturday.
The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus has been actively opposing these measures since they were first introduced years ago and will be supplying testifiers and written testimony in both committees to protect the constitutional rights of Minnesotans.
