Stop the DFL Gun Control Omnibus Bill

Senate File 4067 is the most sweeping attack on Minnesota gun owners in our state’s history — and it is moving toward a Senate floor vote.

This is not a narrow fix or a targeted reform. SF 4067 takes commonly owned firearms out of the hands of peaceable Minnesotans, criminalizes ordinary conduct that has been legal for decades, and builds a state-run registry of every gun owner who manages to grandfather their property. It does nothing to stop the criminals who already ignore Minnesota’s gun laws.

SF 4067 would:

• Ban most semi-automatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns based on a single common feature
• Ban every magazine that holds more than 17 rounds
• Force every existing owner to register their firearms and magazines with the BCA and renew every three years, with felony penalties for failing to comply
• Strip the long-standing exception that lets permit holders drive onto school property with a firearm locked in their trunk
• Cap personal firearm assembly at three per year and ban home manufacture using common tools
• Hand $500,000 in taxpayer money to an anti-gun research group to produce material aimed at restricting our rights further
• Reenact the binary trigger ban retroactively to January 1, 2025

These firearms and magazines are owned by hundreds of thousands of Minnesotans for self-defense, hunting, sport shooting, and training. They are clearly protected by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and Article I, Section 16 of the Minnesota Constitution.
