Press Release: MN Gun Owners Caucus mourns the loss of life after terrorist attack in Texas

May 25, 2022 By //  by Bryan Strawser

The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus, the trusted voice of Minnesota’s gun owners to defend and restore the right to keep and bear arms, joins with the rest of the country in expressing our deepest condolences for those affected by yesterday’s senseless terrorist attack in Texas.

In the aftermath of tremendous tragedy, our nation’s priority should be to come together and provide support and healing to those affected.

Tragedies like this horrendous terrorist attack evoke exceptionally strong emotions.  We have already seen reactionary pleas for legislation or restrictions well before the facts of the situation have come in.

We refuse to join in the politicization of the pain and loss suffered by victims and survivors in the furtherance of a political agenda or to capitalize on their pain for financial gain.

Within a few hours after this attack, we saw calls for the same failed gun-control measures from the past along with many fundraising emails from gun control groups across the country, and here in Minnesota, seeking to capitalize on our nation’s strong emotions. This is shameful and exploitative.

We remain committed to addressing real issues of public policy – and we’re always willing to be a part of a public debate on the issue of gun rights and the Second Amendment.

Our organization has a long history of working to strengthen our state’s mental health resources, improve school safety, and connect those in crisis with support.

If you or a loved one are in crisis, there are resources available to help you.

  • National Suicide Prevention Lifeline:  1-800-273-TALK (8255)
  • In Minnesota, call **CRISIS at **274747
  • Send a text message to the Crisis Text Line by texting MN to 741741

Example Fundraising Emails & Text Messages

If you appreciate our work defending the 2nd Amendment and advocacy for the law-abiding gun owners of Minnesota, please consider joining us today.
