Senator John Marty has introduced a ban on carrying firearms at the State Capitol Complex and a ban on carrying any long gun in Minnesota, even with a properly issued Minnesota Permit to Carry.
Senator Marty believes that carrying firearms is not a constitutional right and should be licensed and highly regulated, often comparing gun ownership to a privilege, much like owning and operating a motor vehicle.
SIGN OUR PETITION TO HELP STOP THE CARRY BAN IN MINNESOTA
Stop the Carry Ban in Minnesota
TO THE MEMBERS OF THE MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE:
- Whereas, the anti-gun movement, led by state groups like Protect Minnesota and Michael Bloomberg’s out-of-state-funded Everytown, is attempting to take advantage of recent tragedies to drive home their agenda of gun control
- Whereas Senator John Marty previously introduced the “Repeal the Second Amendment” gun control omnibus laws in Minnesota in the 2022 legislative session
- Whereas the United States Supreme Court ruled in NYSRPA v. Bruen in 2022 that the right to bear arms meant the right to carry firearms for the purposes of self-defense
- Whereas Senator Marty has now introduced a ban on carrying a firearm at the State Capitol Complex and a ban on carrying any long gun in the State of Minnesota
THEREFORE, AS A LAW-ABIDING GUN OWNER AND/OR A SUPPORTER OF THE SECOND AMENDMENT, I CALL UPON ALL MEMBERS OF THE MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE TO OPPOSE THE BAN ON CARRY IN MINNESOTA.
